Christina and Darwin are one of the most adorable couples...EVER! We had such a wonderful afternoon with these two at the Ventura pier on Friday. They are eagerly waiting for the birth of their first child...Bella. We're pretty sure Bella will be "stop you in your tracks" beautiful and we're pretty sure she will LOVE the camera. Christina said she moved during most of the session!

Susan & Al ~ Married!

When they gaze into each other's eyes, it's so deep they get lost. When they touch, you can see sparks of electricity. It can only be described as true love. Susan and Al exchanged vows in front of their closest family and friends on October 15th at Padre Serra in Camarillo. The ceremony was so beautiful! And the reception rocked!

Baby Adam has arrived!!! And what a perfect addition to this beautiful family. Amanda, Mohamed and big sister, Liyana welcomed Adam a month ago and he is just as cute as can be. We have to say, Adam was one of the most perfect newborns we have ever had the pleasure of photographing!

We asked Amanda and Mohamed how Liyana is adjusting to being a Big Sister...they just looked at each other and smiled. "She's getting there," they both said.

Yep! That kiddo is smiling at his Daddy...at one month old! Thank you Mohamed, Amanda, Liyana and Adam for inviting us into your family at such a blessed time! We know you will get back to a good night's sleep soon...

Santa Barbara Wedding ~ Julie & Peter

They smiled ALL day...they kissed A LOT...and their pure joy and love washed over everyone present that day. We had so much fun with this beautiful couple, their family, and their friends. And we couldn't help but smile all day too...and steal a few kisses of our own!

Julie and Peter exchanged vows at the spectacular Casa das Palmas in Santa Barbara. It was an intimate ceremony and lovely reception in the gardens of the estate. The whole day was expertly and beautifully coordinated by Toby Theule. And while thunder rumbled occasionally during the ceremony, the rain was kept at bay by Julie's bright and sunny smile! Julie's beautiful daughters stood by her side and Peter's best friends by his as the two promised to love and accept each other just as they are...

Julie's smile is infectious! And we've decided that she has the best "laugh face" ever!

Julie could hardly wait to get down the aisle to Peter...in fact, when she reached him, she planted a huge kiss on his lips! Everyone started laughing! I don't think the minister quite knew what to do with the bride who kissed her groom BEFORE the ceremony started.

Beautiful Baby ~ Kate

One of our fabulous clients volunteers for the National Charity League, Juniors of Ventura County. Back in March they held their annual Art of Giving event where they raised over $90,000 to support the new Children's Cancer and Blood Diseases Program at Ventura County Medical Center. We really wanted to participate in such a wonderful cause, so we donated one of our Beautiful Collection portrait packages for the silent auction.

John and Kristin were the lucky winners of a Beautiful Baby portrait session...at least we think they're lucky! John is a physician with one of VCMC's Ambulatory Care Clinics. He and Kristin are two incredibly devoted parents...they have to be with FIVE beautiful daughters! We had the pleasure of being invited into their lovely home to photograph all of them - John, Kristin, Sarah Rose, Emma, Julia, Mia and Baby Kate. Whew! Baby Kate is just two months old but she's already an old pro handling a busy household. She didn't cry once while we were there and watched everything we did with such intensity and listened to every word we said. It was amazing! In fact, all the girls were amazing! We had so much fun with this beautiful family!

Thank you John, Kristin, Sarah Rose, Emma, Julia, Mia and Kate! We can't wait to see you again! And John, good luck on your adventurous hike...

Beautiful Baby ~ Kierstyn

Baby Kierstyn made her debut on July 30th in a beautiful and peaceful home birth surrounded by her loving family. Well, big sister Brynn did sleep through most of it! But she is so proud of her little sister and has been quite a big helper!

This adorable little beanie was made by Kellie's midwife (Mary Jackson Midwifery). Who also helped make Scott and Kellie's home birth an awesome experience!

Congratulations Scott, Kellie and Brynn! Kierstyn is absolutely perfect and so very loved! Thank you for letting us share in this special time with all of you!

Julie & Peter ~ Engaged

We spent a beautiful morning in Santa Barbara with Julie and Peter, a wonderful couple that we could have spent the whole day with. They are getting married in September...on 9-10-11 at 12 to be exact!

We started out at a park across the street from Peter's home, which has a gorgeous view of the ocean. If this was our view, I don't think we would ever leave home!

Peter has the coolest little red dune buggy!

From the park, we headed to La Casa de Maria in Montecito. We've lived in this area for nine years and traveled to Santa Barbara many, many times, and had no idea this little gem of a location existed! It's a non-profit organization, whose mission is to provide a sanctuary for people of all faiths to gather and serve their community. It's tranquil and so beautiful. We didn't want to leave! And this is where Julie and Peter met...the rest, as they say, is history.

Rule #62...don't take yourself so seriously.

On their wedding invitation, it reads "This is where Julie and Peter met. We sat on a small wall and looked down this road, talking for hours. This place, this spot, what we saw, the road we were going to be on, is so significant that we've made it the background for our wedding invitation."

Susan & Al ~ Engaged

He couldn't take his eyes off her...the ENTIRE time! And when she smiled at him, her whole face lit up. We spent a beautiful Saturday morning with Susan and Al and we are so excited for their upcoming October wedding. They will be exchanging vows at the gorgeous Padre Serra church in Camarillo in front of their closest family and friends. We headed to Hartley Botanica for their engagement session and had a blast! These two laughed...a lot. Which means we laughed...a lot! Although we also felt a little guilty being witness to some tenderly intimate moments...but we still captured them with our cameras forever freezing those moments in time.

We can already tell these two have a wonderful future ahead of them. And we are so happy we get to be a part of it! Thank you Susan and Al for a great Saturday!

Beautiful Belly ~ Amanda, Mohamed & Liyana

We got to the house a few minutes early and when Amanda answered the door, she anxiously said, "we're not quite ready, but make yourselves at home and we'll be right down." So, Terry and I began looking around the beautiful, spacious home and getting our equipment ready. When Amanda, Mohamed, and Liyana came downstairs, we realized how worth the few minute wait they were...these three were adorably dressed with big smiles on their faces! Two and a half year old Liyana wasn't the least bit shy...in fact, she performed for us the entire time! We were so amazed at how SMART this kid is. She recited her alphabet, named the days of the week, the months of the year, said hello in three different languages, and did gymnastics! I'm sure it has to do with the great genes she has. Her mom is a nurse and her dad a lawyer. And she spends lots of time with a very smart grandma! Needless to say, baby Adam is already one blessed little boy...and he isn't even here yet! But smart genes aside, this family absolutely loves and adores one another and it showed every second we spent with them.

Beautiful Belly ~ Kellie, Scott, & Brynn

Scott, Kellie and 2 year old Brynn invited us into their wonderful home for a portrait session starring Kellie's beautifully pregnant belly. Their baby girl will be arriving soon and you can just feel the excitement and anticipation radiating from all three of them!

Brynn isn't quite sure what to make of all of it yet. She knows there is a baby in mommy's tummy...and she knows she will get her very own big girl bed...and she knows it's getting harder and harder for her little legs to wrap around mommy's waist...but she is still mommy's #1 girl!

While we were there, Kellie and Scott read "I'm a Big Sister" to Brynn. But Brynn was much more interested in reading "Parenting from the Inside Out." It was so cute to see her with that big book! We know that Brynn will be a great big sister and Scott and Kellie's hearts are bursting with love for their new little baby girl.

Kellie is something of a basketball player and this is very much a basketball loving house so this was a must have shot of ours. We love it so much!

It doesn't get much cuter than this...

Their mom has been begging for a loooooong time for portraits of the two of them...and as Hannah gets ready to go off to college, she and her sister, Shana, finally agreed. And we were the lucky photographers chosen! These two gorgeous sisters, and their mom, came to visit us in Fillmore for an early morning portrait session. And although it was rather gloomy (and chilly!), they brought color to the day and totally rocked!

These two had plenty of sisterly "inside jokes" that had them cracking up. We still wish we knew what they were talking about...

Beautiful Baby ~ Isaac

One of the coolest things about being photographers is being welcomed into the homes and lives of some really awesome people. On Saturday, we were invited to the Gutierrez family home in Redlands to photograph their adorable new baby, Isaac. We already knew how handsome he would be...his mother is absolutely beautiful, his dad has these amazing eyes and winning smile, and his two older brothers are just as cute as can be. Little one month old Isaac was determined not to miss a thing, so he stayed awake the entire time we were there! He paid close attention to our huge cameras as we snapped away, but never let his big, dark eyes wander far from mom and dad. What a sweet, sweet family they all are...

So, dad wanted to sit Isaac up in this basket. I had my doubts...after all he is ONE MONTH OLD! Boy, was I proved wrong! Isaac was chillin' in this basket for several minutes, being all cute and stuff!

Thank you Alex, Sarah, Sebastian, AJ, and especially Isaac for inviting us into your home! We have so enjoyed getting to know all of you and look forward to watching these handsome boys grow up. Congratulations on your beautiful family!

Taylor...Kelley...and the Scary Dairy...

We had so much fun with our group of high school seniors a few weeks ago that we invited a couple of them to a fun photo shoot at the Scary Dairy. Taylor and Kelley, the best friends off to Hawaii for college, jumped at the chance. It was awesome getting to know them better and having the opportunity to be creative with their gorgeousness!

We even got Taylor and Kelley's sisters in on the action! These four girls have known each other since Taylor and Kelley were in kindergarten...now they're all grown up!

Taylor and Kelley...you two are so awesome! And absolutely beautiful on the inside and out. And so much fun!!! Thank you for letting us take your pictures again...although we don't think you minded! And thank you to your moms and sisters for hanging out at the Scary Dairy...and getting locked in twice! We wish you both the best of luck in the next phase of your life. Seniors Rock! Class of 2011

Five girls...five moms...two photographers...one assistant...equals an awesome afternoon! Margaret contacted us about six months ago to inquire about senior portraits for her daughter, Hannah. At the time, we were toying with the idea of launching a senior portrait package that would involve groups of friends. Margaret and Hannah were excited about the idea and began recruiting friends. We had no idea we would end up with five in one afternoon!

All the girls play soccer together on various teams and they all attend high school in Ventura. Hannah will be attending Cal State Channel Islands to study nursing. Taylor is off to Hawaii to study environmental science. Merissa is looking into criminal justice and possibly law enforcement. Riley is headed to North Carolina on a scholarship and Kelley will be joining Taylor in Hawaii to study nursing. These gorgeous and bright young women have their whole lives ahead of them, full of opportunity and experiences they can only dream about now...

Five friends headed down five different roads in life...we wish you all the best life has to offer! Congratulations, good luck, and HAVE FUN!!!

A Little Slugger Named Roc... ~ Fountain Valley

One of our dearest clients, Megan, referred her brother and his family to us for a Beautiful Baby session. We love when our clients do that! Missy and Jeff welcomed their second baby boy in March. His name is Roc. How cool is that?!? His big brother, Cade, was into Rocky movies and boxing the whole time Missy was pregnant. And since they couldn't agree on a name for the baby, they started calling him Rocky. Cade is pretty proud that he got to name his little brother!

Even their super cute dog, Leo got in on the action! He was determined to get in every shot. It was pretty funny!

When Missy and I talked about their session, she asked if her niece could have a few photos taken with her two cousins as a Mother's Day gift for grandma. I'm so glad she asked...Isla was such a little doll! And Cade was such a great big brother and cousin! Cade plays baseball, just like his Daddy. He told us how he plays for the White Sox. And on Saturday, they were playing against the Phillies. He was so excited about this game because the last two against the Phillies were rained out. So, when Missy took Roc in to feed him, we took Cade and Jeff outside to warm up before the big game. We hope you had a great game Cade!

The Gutierrez Family...with one on the way! ~ Redlands

Sarah and Alex are the loving and proud parents to Sebastian and AJ...and are about to add ANOTHER boy to the mix! Baby Boy Gutierrez will be making his debut later in April, but this little guy is already so loved. Sarah works at a local elementary school, and Alex is working to put himself through school. He wants to be a nurse. Sebastian is almost 9 and quite smart. AJ is 7 and very funny. We absolutely enjoyed our time with this beautiful family on Saturday. Fortunately, the weather was perfect and the location awesome! We shot at the University of Redlands, which is where Terry and I had our engagement photos done 8 years ago. Awww...

One of things we absolutely love about this family, is how much they laughed! They had so much fun just hanging out as a family. It was easy to photograph them.

Sarah is absolutely glowing...her sons and her husband call her their princess. It's so cute!

We can't wait to meet this little guy next month! Congratulations Sarah, Alex, Sebastian, and AJ! This baby is lucky to have you as his family!

Louise & Andrew ~ Engaged!

They met at Baylor University in Texas, where they both majored in Fine Arts. When they were done with school, they moved to California with big dreams. Louise is an actress (a darn funny one too!) and Andrew works in film and digital media and writes the scripts that make Louise so darn funny. They have been together for just over two years. And for their 2nd anniversary, Andrew got down on one knee...at Disneyland...and asked her to marry him. Their actual engagement was videotaped by a friend and was the sweetest thing EVER!

We met Louise and Andrew last summer when they were a part of a stylized photo shoot we did at Hartley Botanica in Somis. We absolutely fell in love with this couple! They are smoldering hot, super funny, and totally goofy! And Louise is a Friends fan! We were quoting random lines from episodes and no one else had a clue what we were talking about! We were thrilled when they asked us to do some engagement photos in their beautiful new home... Yes, this is a Lord of the Rings chess set. And yes, this was all Terry's idea! Well, except having the King and Queen make out...that was Andrew's idea. And you may not believe it, but this is Louise's chess set.

Isn't the love just pouring out of her? Louise loves "nose kisses!"

Something tells me that Andrew doesn't mind watching Louise put make-up on as much as he claims to...

They have this stunning gazebo in their backyard...a perfect place to practice their wedding dance. I think they could've danced in each other's arms the rest of the afternoon.

La Vie Boheme...{Kenton-Camarillo, Ca}

"Seniors Rock!" Literally and figuratively in this case. Kenton is a senior...a 4.0 student...popular...and a total rockstar. He's played the guitar almost his whole life and music is his passion. He will be headed to Washington State in August to attend Walla Walla University, where he will be studying to be a pastor. And we must say, he is going to be one cool and talented pastor!

We headed to Scary Dairy in Camarillo for this colorful and totally fun session. Scary Dairy is this old abandoned dairy that used to be run by the patients and staff of the old Camarillo State Hospital. It's rumored to be haunted by patients who died at the hospital...spooky, huh? True to our word, we ran out of light before we ran out of ideas!

Mom, aka Groupie, totally rocked Kenton's hat and guitar!

"Awww mom!!!" Despite the look on his face, this is a really tight family. Kenton's parents, little brother, and grandparents all came out to watch. Such a fun group!

Not too many guys can pull off a white suit...except Kenton. We wish you the best of luck in what we know will be a very successful next phase of your life. And congratulations on your upcoming graduation! Enjoy this time...it only happens once!

Bring on 2011...We're Ready!

As you look back on 2010, are you happy? Content? Satisfied? Regretful? Sad? Dazed? Blessed? I think most of us tend to feel a little of all of those things. When Terry and I look back over this last year, I think the feeling that most describes us is blessed. It seems as though the years are flying by faster and faster and sometimes we have a hard time keeping up! We have been blessed in both our family life as well as our professional life.

We made a commitment at the beginning of 2010 to spend the year growing Eternally Yours Photography. We wanted to make sure we had a solid foundation for our business and that we were headed in the direction we wanted to go. We have made so many great friends and had so many awesome clients along the way!

For a year that was dedicated to growing our business, we were extremely busy! We are eagerly looking forward to 2011. This next year promises to be an awesome one. We are looking forward to spending time with old and new friends, and capturing priceless memories for old and new clients. Once again, thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for making 2010 amazing! Bring on 2011...we're ready!

This is our favorite time of the year...it's cooler (which Terry loves!), there are a ton of reasons to eat with reckless abandon (which Terry loves!), and there are amazing sales (which I love!). But more than any of that, it's a time to celebrate...no matter which holiday you celebrate or how. This is a season of generosity, peace, love and hope.

We would like to take this time to thank all of you for your support and love over this last year. We have been focusing on growing Eternally Yours Photography, and as many of you know, we have been successful! We have so much to be thankful for this year...our amazing families, friends and clients. Without all of you, none of this would even be possible. Anytime ~ Ann"e" (Ventura)

Remember, back in high school, when there was someone you looked up to, admired, and wanted to be like? Or remember that person that you totally got their quirkiness, because you were the same way? Ann"e" is that person for both Terry and me. She was my flute section leader my freshman year in high school. She played a mean piccolo and was one of the best student leaders. And she was just plain cool! I don't think she will ever know how much she influenced me throughout high school, even though she graduated my freshman year. For Terry, she was the one that got the Star Trek inside jokes, was a huge fan of cheesy '80s cartoons and could go toe to toe in the useless trivia category.

We reconnected with Ann"e" through Facebook, like many of our high school friends. In the midst of all the witty banter, small talk, and catching up, Ann"e" asked us about doing a portrait session. She had spent the last year transforming herself into a lean, mean, mixed martial arts machine and wanted a fun way to show off her fit self. Let me just say, point me to the nearest MMA studio and sign me up! Ann"e" looks hotttttt!!!

So, I bet you're wondering why her name is spelled Ann"e"? It's pronounced "Annie" but with an "e." We've always said her name where the quotes were implied. Seems kinda silly unless you know her! Thank you Anne"e" for letting us capture your gorgeous self and it was so much fun hanging out again!

Beautiful Family ~ Wolff (Fillmore)

It was a very brisk autumn morning when we met Carol, her daughter Kaily, and her parents, Tom and Linda. The sun was shining, spilling out absolutely gorgeous light. Of course, the weather took a back seat when we started photographing this darling family. They had so much fun goofing off, teasing one another, and laughing. And Tom was on cloud nine since we were at the train station in Fillmore...he LOVES trains!

Don't these two look more like sisters than mom and daughter? And we mean that as the highest compliment to both of them!

Kaily and Amber were quite the pair...and both so gorgeous! They are cousins and extremely close.

Three generations of loveliness

So, at the very end, we asked Kaily and Amber to jump off the steps Fame style. After it came out of my mouth, I realized that I had dated myself. *Sigh* But they figured out what I meant and went for it...several times!

We had an absolute blast with this family! Thank you Carol, Kaily, Tom, Linda, and Amber for spending your morning with us. Oh, and we hope you enjoyed your breakfast at the Double AA Cafe!

Beautiful Family ~ Greg & Krista & Dax

We couldn't wait to get to their house. We hadn't seen Dax since he was a few weeks old and we knew he would be even cuter now...eight months old and MOBILE!!! Originally, we were supposed to do their session at a park near their home. But Greg had a vision...it involved the rooftop of their apartment building. When his mother was a child, she and her family lived in an apartment building on the East Coast. All the kids in the building used to go up to the roof to play, lay out in the sun, and hang out. At night, they would lie under the stars, enjoying the warm summer evenings. Faith Ringgold wrote a book, called Tar Beach, about those black tar rooftops where kids spent their summers. So, this vision, in a sense, is dedicated to Greg's mom. The view from Greg and Krista's apartment building was STUNNING! You could see for miles and miles and the Getty Center was in the background. Even though it was quite chilly up there, we had a blast!

This is probably our most favoritest (I think that's a word!) photos of the day!

Thank you once again, Greg, Krista, and Dax, for inviting us into your home! We are so excited that you will soon be a little closer to us and we will get to see Dax grow up. You are such a beautiful and special family to us!

Beautiful Family ~ Adams (Fillmore)

To a photographer, finding a new location to shoot at is a little like finding a $20 bill in the pocket of a jacket you haven't worn in awhile. You don't want to waste it on just anything...you want to treat yourself to something special.

When Megan called wanting family portraits, Terry and I were excited. When Megan said they didn't want anything traditional, we (ok, "I") squealed with delight. When Megan agreed to try out our newly discovered location, we (ok, "I") did a little dance. We found our special treat!

Michael, Megan, Taylor, Neil, and Ebbie the dog are such a lovely family. And typical in many ways...when we asked Taylor to put her arm around her brother, she rolled her eyes. When Michael and Megan started kissing (something they truly enjoy doing!), Neil grimaced. And yet, when no one was looking, Taylor hugged Neil a little closer, Neil's grimace ended in a smile, and Michael and Megan beamed with pride at their family. And Ebbie...well, she was just about the most perfect dog!

We feel absolutely blessed to have spent an afternoon with this beautiful family. Thank you guys for being such an awesome bunch and allowing us to capture your awesomeness!

Beautiful Baby ~ Meredith (Ventura)

When Terry and I arrived at Boomer and Megan's home yesterday, Brady was peering out of the playroom window. His big blue eyes stared at us inquisitively. His eyes grew to twice their size when the cameras came out...Brady loves having his photo taken! And we could take his photo all day!

One of the reasons for our visit...Baby Meredith. The newest addition to this sweet little family. She was born on October 14th to the waiting arms of her parents and big brother. For such a young little one, she had the brightest, most alert eyes. And her expressions...to die for!

There was no way his little sister was getting ALL the attention!

Brady decided to get in on the shooting action. What was even cuter was how he kept saying "Cheese" every time HE took the picture!

We cannot get over how absolutely adorable this family is! And so in love! Their home is filled with photos and snapshots of their life...carefully framed and displayed. It feels as though we have known this family and have been on their journey with them the whole time.

Congratulations Boomer, Megan, and Brady! Baby Meredith is absolutely precious! We can already tell she has each of you wrapped around her tiny finger! Thank you again for inviting us into your home and into your family to capture some beautiful and special moments. We look forward to many, many more...

We had the opportunity to work with some absolutley stunning up and coming models in Claremont. After a week of weird thunderstorms, rain and wind, it ended up being a gorgeous, warm, and sunny day!

I don't think Rochelle could be more beautiful! She is also an actress who recently graced Nickelodeon with her gorgeous face and laid back personality.

Chyanna is a "girlie girl" with a spunky attitude! Small world...she and her family actually live in Ventura County!

Chyanna brought along her friend, a brand new model. They had so much fun goofing around with Terry's iPhone! We also managed to get some great video of Chyanna bustin' out some super cool dance moves...

Tiffany & Michael ~ Wedding

Tiffany and Michael met when they were 8...no, 9 years old. We got both answers depending on which of them you asked! They were in the same after-school daycare program. They remained friends for several years, but parted ways when Michael joined the Army. He was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina where he awaited word on where he would be deployed. On the night he received orders that he would be going to Iraq, he had a dream about a girl he was secretly in love with...her name was Tiffany.

Michael knew he had to find her. And he knew he had to marry her. He searched Classmates.com, he searched MySpace, and he searched Twitter. He finally found her on Facebook and sent her a friend request and a message: "Remember me? I've been thinking about you..." Tiffany excitedly accepted his friend request the next day. They talked online and on the phone for awhile, then began finding ways to see each other. When Michael proposed, Tiffany could think of no other answer but YES!

It was a whirlwind 6 months to plan the wedding. They decided to get married in Ventura, since that's where they met and where Tiffany still lived. Michael and Tiffany planned a small intimate gathering at the church she grew up in surrounded by family and close friends.

The groom was teary-eyed...the bride gorgeous. And their family and friends looked on with smiles as the two pledged their lives to one another.

This very sweet couple headed off on their wedding night for a brief honeymoon in Las Vegas to see The Lion King, then on to North Carolina...their new home. We wish you both a lifetime of happiness and love. Thank you Michael for serving our country and thank you Tiffany for supporting your husband!

Tito & Evelyn ~ 50th Wedding Anniversary

She was 16...he was 21. She wanted to learn stenography...he was her teacher. They fell in love and married on September 11, 1960. Tito and Evelyn have reached a milestone so few do anymore. They have been happily married for 50 years. Their two beautiful daughters, Emy and Eileen, gathered friends and family from around the country to celebrate this momentous occasion at a luau-themed party in their honor. Terry and I had the esteemed privilege of attending this event and capturing some priceless images...

Their daughters, Emy & Eileen had one of their parent's wedding photos framed for this occasion. Emy & Eileen did not miss much by way of details...they really poured their hearts into planning this special event!

Evelyn danced the night away...literally! She spent more time on the dance floor than in her seat! This was a special hula she performed along with her daughters. The song illustrated the wisdom passed down to children from their parents.

Tito & Evelyn danced several numbers together. They looked deep into one another's eyes as if the rest of the world no longer existed.

Emy had a beautiful toast prepared...but she was so tearful, she didn't make it through! We are firm believers that actions speak louder than words, Emy.

Maria & Javier ~ Wedding

Terry and I have been blessed in the photography industry in many ways. We had welcome support and encouragement when we were starting out and have met some amazing people. We have always believed in paying it forward and passing on the kindness we've been showed. At the Jasmine Star Workshop in April, I met Verenice of L dot A dot Photography. Turns out, she only lives about 20 minutes from us! She is so sweet and a wonderful photographer! She told me that she had her first wedding coming up and she was nervous. I offered to 2nd shoot with her and just be there for support. There were no doubts in my mind that she would rock the day! And I knew we would have an awesome time!

So, Maria and Javier were the couple we had the honor of spending the day with. These two are so adorable and so in love. And their family and friends definitely know how to have a good time! I wish this little family a lifetime of happiness and love! And thank you Verenice for sharing this experience with me!

Baby Aiden made his debut on the 4th of July. His parents couldn't be happier! He has an awesome head of hair and big, beautiful blue eyes. We had the absolute pleasure of meeting him for the first time when he was one day old and then captured his first portraits when he was about a month old. Randy and Alana are so in love with their little boy...and who could blame them! These three are absolutely blessed and such an amazing family! We can't wait to watch Aiden grow up...

Beautiful Family ~ The Butlers

Terry and I spent the morning with one of the most adorable families! Megan and I actually graduated the same year at Upland High School (waaaaay back in 1997!). Fast forward about 10 years and we bumped into each other outside a Starbucks in Ventura. We've been bumping into each other randomly ever since!

She asked us to do their family portrait, now that their son is 2 and there will be a new Butler in October! Brady is so cute! His eyes are so blue...and mischievous! This sweet little family loves each other so much. It was evident every time Boomer and Megan looked at each other, or at Brady. Even Brady had such admiration in his eyes when looking at his parents. We absolutely loved being a part of this special family today! And after Baby Girl Butler makes her appearance, we get to do it again!

Botanical gardens, hot models, and fab photographers...

Hartley Botanica is, by far, one of the BEST venues we have ever shot at. The opportunities for beautiful photos are endless and the atmosphere serene. We asked Barbara if we could organize a model shoot that could double as a promotional for Hartley. After a few months of planning, date changes, and people changes, we pulled it off!

Thank you to everyone who made this day absolutely fabulous...Andrew and Louise, Loryn, Melanie, Verenice, David, and Susie! We had so much fun for a Monday!

Andrew and Louise have been together for 1 year and 10 months tomorrow (He pointed that out!). They are such a cute couple! And any man who can pose for wedding photos without even being engaged is a keeper!

Doesn't Loryn look a little like a Caribbean princess? While she may look seductive, she's a total ham!

Melanie is actually my 16 year old cousin. She wants to get into modeling and just happened to be here visiting from Maryland. This was her first photo shoot...or so she says. She was an absolute pro today!

Getting to Know Us...

Terry and I spend so much time getting to know our awesome clients. Many of them have become our very dear friends (you know who you are!). They invite us into their homes and lives giving us the absolute joy of capturing their epic moments with our cameras.

We thought we would share a little bit of our lives with all of you...

Terry and I have been together for a little over 16 years. I know, I know, how could we possibly be that old?!? We met in high school. I was a freshman and Terry was a junior. During marching band practice (how cool were we?) Terry ran into me...literally. He just about knocked me out cold with his baritone. I apologized profusely. When you're a freshman, everything is your fault! He looked down at me through his dark Secret Service sunglasses and said..."next time, watch where you're going." Needless to say, it was love at first sight! Not really. I was petrified of him actually! Something about him fascinated me though and we began to find ways to spend more time together.

Our first kiss was at Disneyland on the Haunted Mansion. We have kissed a bazillion times since then! We got married in 2003...one of the most magical days of our life. Our amazingly cute and super smart son was born in 2006. I promise we're not in the least bit biased!

We both love to read...although our tastes are quite different. He loves sci-fi and history (he's read the George Washington autobiography twice...for fun!). I am a self-proclaimed Twi-hard and mystery lover. I love being outdoors...the beach, the park, an outdoor shopping mall. Terry would much rather hang out at the local Barnes and Noble. We are both Starbucks junkies. But for the record, he reached Gold status first! Those of you who are fellow junkies will know what this means. We are also huge animal lovers. We have 3 dogs, 2 cats, and a partridge in a pear tree. I'm kidding about the partridge of course, but some days, it feels like Noah's Ark in our house!

More than anything, we cherish our time together. Whether we are working our tails off shooting a gorgeous wedding, sitting on the couch watching American Idol, playing catch with our son at the park, or on a rare date night, we make it a point to catch up with each other, laugh, and just be together.

We hope you feel like you know us a little better. If not, well, give us a call and we can get a cup of coffee together. Starbucks of course!

Beautiful Belly: Alana & Randy, Part II

Since we didn't get enough of these two last weekend, we headed over to their house on Saturday to shoot some more. There were boxes and bags of baby clothes, toys, burp cloths and anything else little Aiden could possibly need stacked neatly in the living room. Alana's mom was busy painting the nursery, which will of course be decorated with monkeys!
I think Alana has decided that Randy's days of reading Maxim are over...it's a Parenting magazine house now!

Ok, so it's a little corny, but you have to admit, the Atlas idea is pretty unique, right? If you don't think so, it was all Terry's idea!

We are eager to meet little Aiden, but not nearly as much as Alana and Randy. Hang in there you two...he'll be here before you know it!

Alana and Randy have graced our blog so much in the last year...I think they just like having their photos taken! In about 5 weeks, baby Aiden, or "Monkey" as he is affectionately called by Alana, will be making his appearance.

Aren't these the cutest shirts?!? Alana's mom made them for the baby shower.

Since Aiden has earned the nickname "Monkey" we had to make sure his first stuffed animal made it into our session...

All four of us knew this would be our favorite image from the day!

Alana and Randy will be awesome parents! They are so in love with each other and with Aiden. You can tell that they cannot wait to hold him in their arms. We are so blessed to have been such a big part of their lives up to this point and are excited to see this next chapter and what the future holds for this amazing little family!

Jasmine Star Workshop

One of the really cool things about photography is that no two photographers will capture a moment exactly the same way. And when two photographers work together, they will each walk away with more insight into a moment than they had to begin with. Now, imagine 20 photographers working together...

I (Seleta) was blessed in such a way on April 20th when I attended a Jasmine Star Workshop. I got to shoot a gorgeous couple alongside Jasmine and 19 other incredibly talented photographers. Being surrounded by so many unique and gifted people opened my eyes to be able to see more through my lens.

Michelle and Colton were the brave couple who volunteered to model for us! They were married in January and eagerly agreed to get all dressed up again for us. Colton, who is in the Marines, has since been stationed in Virgina. They are just beginning their beautiful life together and are so in love!

Dax's Debut!

Ahhh...parenthood! Greg and Krista claimed this title in March when they welcomed little Dax into the world. Well, not so little...he was 21 inches long! After a roller coaster labor with some very scary moments, Dax made his debut. Here is a sneak preview of some of our favorites...

Krista was quite thrilled to be sporting her Starbucks mug again...complete with caffeine fix!

Daddy insisted on at least one crying photo. This was pretty much the only shot we got; Dax was a trooper the whole time we were there! I actually think he rather enjoyed the spotlight.

When we first put Dax in the basket, he looked at us like, "are you kidding?" But as you can see, he made himself quite comfortable in there!

These three are off to a beautiful start. Greg and Krista are naturally wonderful parents blessed with a perfect little boy.

Greg, Krista, and Dax ~ words cannot express how incredibly happy we are for you. Being a parent is truly an amazing and awesome experience. We are so excited to have been a part of your journey so far and look forward to continuing on with you!

Calvary Chapel Camarillo-Easter at the Adolfo Camarillo Ranch House 2010

Happy Easter from the Dobrosky Family! Even though it was a little on the chilly side, we spent a beautiful morning at Calvary Chapel Camarillo's Easter service. Close to 2,500 people gathered to celebrate at the Adolfo Camarillo Ranch House in Camarillo. It's a toss up between Easter and Christmas for me...never mind, I love them equally! Our son, Ian, is becoming quite a celebrity on Sundays now; he takes his guitar everywhere and rocks worship! Terry, on the other hand, takes his camera everywhere and rocks photography! I am often left carrying everything that isn't a guitar or a camera. I think I'll make sure I get the camera next time...

One of the most awesome things about being a photographer is watching two people who are so absolutely in love, begin a family. We photographed Greg and Krista's wedding two years ago and were so excited when they asked us to document Krista's pregnancy. Baby Dax is due in March and he has two amazing parents waiting to love him forever. This was our first pregnancy photo shoot and it definitely won't be our last! We had an amazing afternoon with Greg and Krista and can't wait to meet Dax!

Anyone who knows these two, knows how playful and fun they are! Greg may enjoy playing with toys more than Dax!

Krista was born in Okinawa, Japan. This kimono is a treasured keepsake from her father.

FINALLY! This was a common theme throughout Randy and Alana's big day. These two wonderful people have been together for 13 years and their family and friends have been waiting for this day for a long time. Although you would never guess these two have been together for so long...they are just as infatuated with one another as they were in high school and you can see that they are the best of friends. Their love has blossomed and deepened over the years and they have a long and happy marriage in front of them.

Alana was one of the most beautiful brides. Someone once said that a woman is never more beautiful than on her wedding day. Alana had glow about her! Her hair and make-up were courtesy of Makeup & Hair Design by Jana (www.makeupandhairdesign.com).

After getting ready, the guys decided to head over to the Old New York Deli in Camarillo for a late lunch. Randy and Alana exchanged vows at the exotic Hartley Botanical Garden in Somis (www.hartleybotanica.com) where you truly felt like you were in a Hawaiian garden. The staff were amazing and everything was so perfect! The flowers, which added to the oasis feel were provided by Yamaguchi's in Santa Paula.

Randy, Alana, their bridal party and their sponsors walked down the aisle to beautiful ukelele music. Terry and I really feel like we had a one day getaway to Hawaii! Randy teared up when he saw his beautiful bride, which I think is the most amazing expression of emotion.

What an awesome looking bridal party!!!

We wish Randy and Alana a lifetime of love, happiness and laughter! It was certainly our pleasure to be a part of such a special day!

We had an awesome day with Rob, Caitlin, and their wonderful families and friends. Their wedding day was long anticipated...they have been together for 9 years! We would like to thank Al Ungar of Al Ungar Photography for inviting us to join him.

Rob and Caitlin said their vows at the beautiful Los Robles Country Club in Thousand Oaks. It was a perfect day!

Terry and I began the day with Rob and his guys at his apartment. They were quite relaxed, hanging out, watching the Trojans vs Huskies game.

Terry and I had an awesome time with Alana and Randy! We got to spend the day with them this past weekend for their engagement session. It felt more like hanging out with old friends. Alana and Randy have been together for 12 years and will be "tying the knot" in October at the beautiful Hartley Botanical Garden in Somis, CA. These two are truly soul mates and their love for each other just pours out when they look at each other.

We enjoyed yummy appetizers at the Anacapa Brewing Company and Alana and Randy shared some kisses and local brew.

We had to include photos in front of the Busy Bee Cafe in downtown Ventura, a local favorite of Alana and her mom.

These two had lots of hoots, hollers, and honks from well-wishers during this part of the shoot!

What a great creed to follow! This past weekend my family and I took a trip to the fair after a two year hiatus. I had been going off and on for about 20 years or so and my wife and I first went together the day after our Junior Prom in High School (I'll plead the Fifth on how long ago that was!). It's a great event that's marked with hundreds of people (some guests, some volunteer actors) dressed up in renaissance-era garb, speak with an accent, and run around having a generally good time. The best part was the chance to photograph all the colorful costumes and interact with the characters.

Making the Impossible Seem Easy

I heard somewhere that the definition of insanity was to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different outcome. Over the years I have been the witness to that very phenomenon as I've watched and worked with the men and women of various emergency services and law enforcement throughout Southern California. They go against human nature and even common sense as they turn towards danger instead of away from it.

And they do it over and over again...

And expect the world to be a little better - a little safer - afterwards...

These are a few photos I've taken over the last few weeks leading up to New Years Eve night where the fog was so thick visibility was down to mere feet in some places. And the brave people of our local police, fire, and paramedic services worked through it all without complaint while many of us brought in the new year with parties and family gatherings.

Next time you get a chance, stop and thank them for being crazy enough to make the impossible seem easy...

Bethlehem's Big Night

Immanuel Baptist Church in Highland puts on a wonderful Christmas musical every year. This year was no different. Bethlehem's Big Night was a comedic interpretation of the events leading up to the birth of Christ. We had a blast watching and we know the cast had a blast performing. Here are some of the shots of the night...

Seleta's dad Lee getting his professional stage make-up doneLee said he was trying to hook up his microphone...we know he just wanted to show some leg for the camera...

Seleta's brother Jacob was also in the musical. He and Lee played two of the shepherds that the angel spoke to that first Christmas night. As you can see, Lee the shepherd was in shock at the booming angel's voice coming from the sky!

The shepherd scenes stole the show with their hysterical dance number illustrating the message from the angel.

Our son got to pose with some of the cast. This is Jennie (she played the camel's rear end), Jacob, and Lee. Ian enjoyed hanging out with Papa the shepherd and trying on some of the costumes.

Seleta also had some fun posing with the cast. Here she is with her brother, dad and son.

It's the hopes of some parents that their children follow in their footsteps. Some physicians want their kids to grow up to be doctors, some musicians want their kids to grow up to become rock stars, and some lawyers who want their kids to grow up to be - well - something else ;)

So imagine my pride when my 2-year-old son comes into the room still in his PJ's, wearing my old Pentax film camera around his neck, screaming, "Dad, look at me!" Then he picks up the camera, looks in the wrong end, and yells, "Click!" At least his thumb wasn't covering the lens...

But as much as he likes taking photos, he likes to ham it up in front of the camera, too. Here's a shot with his 100 pound teddy bear...

But I'd also like to show off the newest addition to our family, Lexi, an eighteen-month-old beagle that we rescued from the Camarillo Animal Shelter.

Jake and Jennie Engagement Session

What better way to spend a Sunday than to do an engagement shoot in an arcade and at the beach? And to do it for my brother-in-law and his fiance tops it. Hard to believe that I grew up with Jake and watched as he went from a shy kid with a baritone in a marching band to become a chef, dietitian, and a world traveling visionary. It's great to see him so happy and in love.

And then there's Jennie... We're still getting to know each other but she's beautiful, she's charming, and she can definitely hold her own against anything I throw at her! And - most importantly - she's very much in love with Jake. That was obvious to Seleta and I as we got to capture these moments on a clear Sunday evening.

Here's a selection of several photos Seleta and I took during a weekend workshop on "The Art of Portraiture" taught by photographer Joyce Wilson. It was a nice break from following the usual wedding format, gave us a chance to learn a new skill or two, and meet several new friends. Even though many "students" (many were working professionals older than us) lived locally, we actually had a photojournalist from Norway. There's nothing better than to be free to think out of the box sometimes and remind ourselves that you must learn the notes before you can carry a tune...

Trash the Dress '08 is finally done!

UPDATE: For those of you who participated in Trash the Dress, I will be mailing out the DVD's with the photos this week. The DVD's will also have a high def version of the slideshow/movie.

This week I had the pleasure of attending a 2-day seminar/workshop with professional photographer Harvey Stein. He has been an active instructor at schools and workshops around the world, has had over 40 private exhibits, and has been a member of over 120 photo exhibits around the world. His latest book, Movimento, is a collection of street photography photos from all around Italy.

Here are some photos from around the Santa Barbara area that were a result of this workshop. I want to thank Mr Stein for all of his kind words and the Brooks Institute for hosting the workshop.

Trash the Dress - Santa Fe Recreation Dam

On June 1st, we had the pleasure of attending a "trash the dress" session at the Santa Fe Recreation Dam in Irwindale. Hosted by Bryan Chan from Premier Photography, over a dozen brides and models met with photographers from all over the state (from as far away as Sacramento and San Diego!) to photograph a wedding dress trashing. It was a blast! For six hours, we got to work with models, former and future brides, and even a photographer who dressed up her self and put their dresses through their paces. More photos and a video to follow!
